How Does Eye Rejuvenation Work?

The delicate skin around the eyes is naturally thinner than the rest of the face and contains less collagen, elastin, and supportive fat. As these structures diminish with age, the skin becomes less resilient, allowing fine lines and wrinkles, crepiness, and under-eye hollows to develop. Repeated facial expressions, sun exposure, and the aging process also contribute to these visible changes, making the eye area one of the first places to show signs of aging.

Eye rejuvenation aims to improve the quality, structure, and appearance of the skin around your eyes. At LaVida, we primarily use Sylfirm X RF microneedling to stimulate your body’s natural regenerative processes. When volume loss is also present, dermal fillers may be incorporated to restore support beneath the skin and complement collagen remodeling.

Sylfirm X RF Microneedling

Sylfirm X combines fractional microneedling with bipolar radiofrequency to create controlled micro-injuries within the epidermis and dermis while delivering thermal energy into the treatment area. These precise micro-injuries initiate the body’s natural healing cascade, beginning with the release of growth factors. Over time, fibroblasts produce collagen, elastin, and extracellular matrix proteins that strengthen the dermis, improve elasticity, and tighten delicate tissue around the eyes. Sylfirm X also utilizes a pulsed wave mode to selectively treat abnormal microvasculature while preserving surrounding healthy tissue.

Dermal Fillers (When Appropriate)

When under-eye aging is caused by volume loss, dermal fillers may be recommended as part of your personalized treatment plan. Hyaluronic acid fillers are carefully placed beneath the skin to restore lost structural support, soften tear troughs, and reduce shadowing beneath the eyes. Because hyaluronic acid naturally attracts and binds water molecules, it also improves hydration within the treated tissue. Combining fillers with Sylfirm X addresses both skin quality and facial volume, allowing multiple causes of eye aging to be treated during a treatment plan.

What Does Eye Rejuvenation Treat?

Eye rejuvenation can improve various concerns affecting the eye area, including:

  • Fine lines and wrinkles around the eyes
  • Crow’s feet
  • Crepey eyelid skin
  • Mild loose or sagging skin around the eyes
  • Under-eye hollows and tear troughs
  • Dark circles caused by volume loss
  • Thin, fragile skin around the eyes
  • Uneven skin texture
  • Mild redness and visible superficial vessels
  • Early signs of aging around the eyes
  • Reduced skin firmness and elasticity

How Is Eye Rejuvenation Performed?

Your treatment begins with a consultation, during which we evaluate your concerns, medical history, skin quality, facial anatomy, degree of volume loss, and treatment goals. We explain your options, answer your questions, and determine whether Sylfirm X RF microneedling, dermal fillers, or a combination of both will provide the most natural-looking improvement.

On the day of treatment, the area is cleansed and prepared. For Sylfirm X, a numbing cream is typically applied before the device delivers precise RF energy through ultra-fine microneedles at carefully selected depths around the eyes. If dermal fillers are appropriate, they are strategically injected to restore support beneath the skin and soften under-eye hollows. After treatment, we review your aftercare instructions and discuss your recommended treatment schedule.

What Are the Potential Side Effects?

Eye rejuvenation is generally well tolerated, but temporary side effects may occur depending on whether Sylfirm X, dermal fillers, or both are used. Common side effects include:

  • Redness
  • Mild swelling
  • Tenderness or sensitivity
  • Pinpoint bleeding following Sylfirm X treatment
  • Bruising, particularly after dermal filler injections
  • Temporary itching
  • Dry or rough-feeling skin during healing
  • Mild tightness around the eyes
  • Small injection-site bumps that typically resolve
  • Temporary asymmetry while swelling subsides
  • Rare risk of infection or allergic reaction
  • Rare vascular complications associated with dermal fillers

Most people experience minimal downtime and return to daily activities within one to two days, although bruising from fillers may last up to a week or longer. Mild redness following Sylfirm X typically improves within 24 to 48 hours. Keep the treated area clean, avoid rubbing or applying unnecessary pressure around the eyes, wear sunscreen daily, and follow aftercare instructions. You may also be advised to avoid strenuous exercise, excessive heat, alcohol, and blood-thinning medications or supplements for the first 24 hours to help minimize swelling and bruising.
